Acting as a neutral third-party

Attorney Denise S. Esserman is a certified mediator in the state of Georgia.  She practices mediation with clients in either one of two capacities—as a mediator who facilitates negotiation and resolution or as an attorney who represents individual clients during mediation.

If you and your spouse or former spouse would like Ms. Esserman to act as a mediator for your divorce or family law dispute, please contact the office to learn more about how mediation may benefit your unique situation.

Freedom to negotiate

People with family law disputes often opt for out-of-court mediation negotiations for several reasons. Mediation can be a much less expensive way of settling a dispute, because parties can avoid expensive litigation and court fees.  Clients additionally like the freedom to negotiate and sense of empowerment that comes from crafting unique resolutions.  Parties are more likely to comply with customized resolutions to important issues:

  • Property division
  • Child custody
  • Alimony
  • Child support

In the event that mediation sessions are unproductive, parties are free to stop at any time and pursue their issues in a courtroom instead.
